Shea is a thick butter that absorbs quickly into the pores. Just take a towel and gently wipe off the greasey excess this takes about 10 seconds. As far as the scent it is a natural scent.

If I need to wipe my face after using a moisturizer, I'll pass on it.

So I finally ordered some from Stirling Soaps. I intentionally had a rough shave yesterday ( I am a rather new straight razor shaver, so I know more than one way to get a rough shave) to see how good this stuff is. I used it the way celestino suggested. And now after 14 hours my skin feels fantastic, no irritation at all which I would feel by now after a rough shave.

Yes it is a bit greasy but if you massage it well enough the greasy feeling doesn't last long. The smell is .. funny. It smells like 'wet arcea nut' which some rural people in my country use with betel leaf. My wife didn't care for it much. But this smell just makes me laugh, really... and while I am not loving it, I am perfectly okay. I used some C&E neroli which I love after 15 or so minutes for the smell.

I will report back in a week or so, but after one use , I am really worried about my moisturizing after shave balms/salves.

Has anyone tried Mystic Water's Whipped Shea Butter? There are a few scents available - Lavender, Earth Rose, Sandalwood Vanilla, and Unscented. I typically do not like scented balms, but if the scents on these are mild and dissipate quickly then that should be ok.

Mystic Water Now that we're heading into colder weather, will the Whipped Shea Butter be shipping again soon?

Thanks,

A really good source for things like Shea Butter is bulkapothecary.com.

I use lanolin as part of my after shave balm. Lanolin is thicker than vaseline. It isn't greasy as much as it is tacky. The way I deal with that is to mix the lanolin with a quality hand lotion. I mix it in two different strengths. One for use after shaving in the morning and another, used if I haven't applied lanolin that day, before bed.

The one used before bed has more lanolin and is more tacky. I wouldn't head out for the day with that one.

I suspect, though don't know, that have shea butter, lanolin, cocoa butter, etc... as part of the shaving soap doesn't do much that is beneficial. My hypothesis is that it is all removed during the shaving process. I say this knowing that many see this differently.

Sourav, great to hear. If you want the 'greasy' feeling to dissipate quicker, you can just gently wipe off any excess shea butter with a dry towel. Regarding the smell, it is a neutral nutty smell, to me, and my soaps or essential oils quickly mask it. Smile

gregcss , Michelle is dealing with some family emergency and she won't be able to respond until November 4 or 5, I believe.

Picked up a tub of unrefined shea butter from Stirling in my last order. It came in their smaller (4oz size) green plastic tub with screw top. Very nice packaging and so much shea butter for only $4.00. I'm with celestino about the scent. It's pretty light, nutty, maybe a bit of camphor....I kind of like the scent. I dont smell it on my face unless i cup my hand over.
