What soap/cream did you use today?

The puck smelled like nothing but spearmint. As far as I was concerned, the fragrance could have stopped right there. It was clean and simple, and even though it did sort of remind me of toothpaste, I was a happy camper. But then things got better. Round about the end of the first pass I started to notice lavender and cedar too. They were mild and unassertive, and I thought they made good neighbors. Then the mint started to make friends with the woody and flowery bits, and altogether they gave the lather a sort of tea-like aroma. It was a calm, easy scent that could go down well on just about any morning.

The soap is named after a beautiful seaside town in Vietnam. I understand they grow a lot of Vietnamese mint there, and that’s what JabonMan was trying to capture with this soap’s fragrance. I’m going to enjoy Hoi An when the weather gets warm, even though on its own, it’s not in the least bit chilling. A crack or two from the menthol mill should perk it up.

My first outing with today’s razor, a Timeless ALSB45, was surprising. I should mention I bought a ‘scratch ’n dent’ model straight from Timeless. They asked for only $50 for the razor, its stand, and a gorgeous box. A steal. I looked over the razor carefully, but I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. (Maybe the knurling is slightly off, but who cares, it still offers a great grip.) Overall the razor is very light (47g), highly mobile, and a seemingly mild scraper. I lathered up and let it glide across my face. I could hardly feel the blade. But by the end of the second pass, I noticed my lather was turning pink. Somehow I’d managed to nick myself twice. I got a good, close shave, but tomorrow, I’m going to have to mind my manners. This razor doesn’t suffer a careless shaver lightly.

Harris Arlington of the old formula.  I might prefer Windsor more but Arlington is a good one.  I don’t know why but I really enjoy making a lather from a hard puck of soap and DR Harris never disappoints.

The Sudsy Soapery - Delor de Treget (Supercreamed & Whipped)

Amazing shave. The Delor made the SS Osprey set at 9 a complete breeze. As I just said in that thread, it was probably the best first pass I've ever had. Kudos to the lather and the razor.

The honeysuckle vines near my home will start blooming around the end of this month.  I figured it was time to pull this one out since I've been sitting on it since last September.  Another reason I've waited to use it is because initially I thought it was a bit too floral for my tastes.  I knew with time two things would happen.  One was the scent would mature as it ages in the jar and two my senses would adjust to this scent.  This definitely was worth waiting for.
