Just had my fifth shave with the OneBlade on a single Feather blade. This is much better longevity than my first round, where I only got three shaves from the Feather before it petered out on me.

Differences this time:
-Even lighter touch than before - "balloon shave" as they say
-Slower strokes (per a gent who posted on Sharpologist about wet shaving in general)
-No "36 hour beards" - shaving at daily intervals, as blade longevity seems to benefit from less stubble
-Two passes plus touch-up = BBS, or close enough.

I am really loving this razor.

And for what it's worth, the sixth Feather shave today with no pulling, although the efficiency has probably dropped a notch. Still super comfortable and efficient, however.

I would get irritation from the Feather well before pulling usually. Occasionally it would degrade and cut me on my ATG under my nose first.

As much as I would love to hammer the Oneblade, (since as one or two might note I was originally a detractor of the $300 razor with snake oil type advertising) I got a great shave out of the box and on the first go. I assumed I was using it right since I neither lost my head or cut my throat. A smooth, irritation free shave can be had by just about anyone, provided you invest in all the other trappings of wetshaving (prep, good lather, steady strokes, and good post shave). All these things contributed to the BBS shave I got from the razor. Let's give ourselves some credit for making it easy for the Oneblade to do the work. The shave I got was equal to that of my R41 after 30 straight days of using and learning it. I'm growing out my face alittle to give the Oneblade something to really cut. I anticipate (based on my first shave with no experience at all) a better shave than the first, so I remain optimistic about the razor that is actually rising up to meet the "Don King" expectations advertisers promoted. I'm not going to get into the blah blah discussion about "making it too easy" or "doesn't feel right" or "the feather blades...(fill in the blank)" nonsense. I have shaved with too many razors that have fallen short of the mark. It's refreshing to find one that actually does. That being said, I'm sharing my opinion with like individuals and not the manufacturer since it appears from their advertisements, they already know and their heads are too big as it is.

Im hanging on to the bulk of my DE razors but some of my more costly stainless steel razors are or will be on the block shortly...got to pay for the Oneblade somehow!

Oh and thanks to all the owners/enablers with oneblades....... While I agree opinions across the board are important, the only question at the end of the day for me was "how does it shave?" If you don't have one or never used one, it's tough to answer. So I truly thank those who waded into the Oneblade and provided their feedback so that I could make a more informed decision. For that I am grateful.

So glad to hear the report, Hardtop01. And thanks for speaking straight. I know what you mean about their rather arrogance-tinged marketing. But indeed, it's a great razor, and stands on its own merits. I'm pretty sure you're going to continue to enjoy it.

Congrats Hardtop01 on your maiden OneBlade shave. I, too, was a detractor based on price & the blades. I found my way around the blade issue & now have no qualms with the price. Don't get me wrong, I would hate to have to fork over that much to get another one should something happen to mine, but I most assuredly would.

A quick follow-up on my previous post and thanks to all for the words of support. The second shave was just as close and just as comfortable as the first. Not looking good for my wallet and my ATT....actually I went back to the site and picked up the travel case, and priced out some Feathers. So actually looking terrible for the wallet and lined up a buyer for the ATT so that as they say is that.

I did want to address one comment related to the longevity of the company. I have three gillettes, two from Delta Echo and one from an antique store locally. Despite the fact that Gillette still exists, I'm not sure I could send them my razors if something went wrong. I can recall from some old ads kicking around, that when they did market the fatboys, they were razors for life. So existing in my opinion guarantees nothing. Admirable that while Oneblade is in existence they are offering lifetime warranties, something which is very rare in general and problematic for Gillette despite their razors being bought and sold up to this very moment. If Oneblade goes belly up, and my razor happens to go south, I would salute it, wish it well and into the recycling. Would I be happy if this happened tomorrow, no I would not. If it happened in 5 years, possibly not. In 20 years hopefully a retired hermit living in the hills and not caring too much about how I looked, but for the time I had it(like many of the things I use) it served me well.

Exactly what I said earlier. Such is life. If the company goes under, so what? By then, the next best thing will be out and it will probably be better. Worrying about the longevity of the company is a fruitless exercise.

You can certainly buy blades from OneBlade, and their subscription model might be nice for some guys that don't want to worry about ordering or running out. Very convenient. It also is nice to support the company in OneBlade by buying blades from them. They make such a great product, and buying blades from them is a nice 'thank you', and helps them stay in business.

But you mention the hit to your wallet. Let me help with that Wink :

Buying 240 saves quite a bit of money. And if you sell your ATT or other expensive razors that can't touch the OneBlade, you may have even made money on the deal. A lot of guys go from nice razor to nice razor, spending a lot more than they ever intended over the long run. The OneBlade is in a different class altogether, and I know it will save me lots of money from buying other razors that can't touch it's quality, innovation, safety and closeness!
