This salient looks like it should be impeccably smooth. But something about it felt really aggressive to me. Like it was scraping instead of cutting

There is a lot of blade exposure on the salient and the head stack is short.  It works best with a very light touch, never riding the cap, and a sharp blade for me.   In fact I suggest to ride the safety bar on it if you still have it.

Again, YMMV but it is one of two razors that Andy made that isn’t “automatic” on shave angle and low blade feel.  The other is the Ti1.
