| 04-12-2011 04:03 PM I'd ordered one a few years back, but I'm curious about 2 scents in particular: Wellington and Spanish Leather. I 'requested' those in the comments section, so hopefully they'll include them. Any shave creams or skin foods they include are just icing on the cake if I get those 2 scents to try out. My wife is starting to really enjoy some of these English scents so I may can score a nice Father's day present out of this if I play my cards right |
| 04-12-2011 04:32 PM I really like Spanish Leather and Wellington colognes. Both of them just ooze class ![]() I really like the lime skin food, I did not like the rose or sandalwood. The smell has a real zing to it. The skin food does help soothe my skin after shaving but I find that I have to apply a little bit of moisturiser after applying it to stop that tightness that some people get from it. |
| 04-12-2011 07:28 PM Quinine, Portugal, and Spanish Leather rock. Lime (Cologne) is OK. Bay Rum is real nice. GFT is boorish department store stuff. Fern and all the high end stuff that come in a fancy cardboard tube are all sickening sweet. If I did get one it would be Wellington. I will be buying Quinine and Spanish Leather next and then I'm done with Trumper. "Orange is the happiest color" ~ Frank Sinatra "Sometimes it's all in how you say something" ~ Brooke |

I find Eua de crushed Orange blossom a bit one dimensional. ( could have used a bit more leather to give it a bit more depth, character and complexity I reckon ) I know Wellington is very popular and it's quite complex, well made, and inspite of the name "modernish" with a citrus lemony note added to the hint of leather ... IMO the more traditional saddle style Spanish leather is the most sophisticated of the Trumper scents. It's along the lines of Roger and Gallet L'Homme and Annick Goutal Eau du Sud. - both very leather and both very "Freddy". - gotta admit he's got great taste. Just my 2 cents. Best, Andy. | 04-14-2011 03:39 AM It sounds like what you guys are describing is Pinaud Eau de Portugal as it smells of sweet orange oil. Trumper Eau de Portugal is something entirely different. Next thing for me to try is Quercus. After that I will be done for awhile. I do love 3 of the Taylors. Sandalwood Mr.Taylors Shave Shop Sorry Pam, I always pass on the lavender stuff in spite of the fact I personally like the smell of real lavender. I don't really need permission but I do want Karen to like my Foo Foo Juice too and she just won't have anything to do with lavender. I think its a mistake but this is one of those rare things where we disagree. "Orange is the happiest color" ~ Frank Sinatra "Sometimes it's all in how you say something" ~ Brooke |
| 04-14-2011 12:18 PM It was a tough choice for me between Astor and Wellington, but Astor just edged it. Skye was a real let down and smelt sickly sweet. |

I am not very good at describing the smells to be honest and it is a few months since I tried the Wellington, but I found the two of them quite similar. However, I found the Wellington to be stronger and it had a more medicinal smell to it and I think it also had a smell of grapefruit to it. Both are very classy IMO and give me great longevity - I can smell them over 12 hours after applying. |

Sorry to come across like a self proclaimed expert (even though I am :mrgreen but Wellington is to Blenheim what Pluto is to the Sun. Closest thing to Blenheim I have smelled is Trumper Eau de Portugal. "Orange is the happiest color" ~ Frank Sinatra "Sometimes it's all in how you say something" ~ Brooke |
