| 08-08-2011 05:15 AM hi guys and gal,s i have bought meny colonges in my life but its dificult to get one that lasts most of the day. i dont like the reall cheapy stuff as i have found out to my expriance that they dont last long.and on the other hand you pay a fair amount for a colonge and it lets you down.for me personaly if i purches a colonge i want it to last and havethe scent thair at the end of the day of corse i dont expect it to be as strong in scent. my main question is what colonge have you put on after your shave in the morning and when you take a sniff of your skin it still has the scent thair.so really what keeps you fresh all day before it faids and the body order takes over. im intorested to now what you guys come up with from a cheapy that lasts all day to a colonge you have payed a fair amount for.because at the end of the day we all want your colonge to last as long as posible. |
| 08-08-2011 09:04 AM Terre d'Hermes by Hermes lasts as you describe an all day scent, Selwyn. It is quite pricey, though. The nice thing about it is that at the end of the day when I go to bathe or shower, the last of the scent is brought out by the hot water. Terre d'Hermes is an earthy, rather than a sweet, scent. | 08-08-2011 10:28 AM I find Calvin Klein Obsession lasts all day and most of the night ! It's an orange / musk based scent so it isn't for everyone but I like it as it's a break from the currently fashionable all lime citrus style scents. Best, Andy. | 08-08-2011 11:35 AM I find that Grey Flannel has good staying power, at least with my body chemistry. Of course the scent you are left with after dry down isn't the scent you started out with, but it's still there and projecting far into the late hours of the evening. It may not be everyone's cup of tea though. |

I like Trumper's Spanish Leather and Vetiver by Guerlain as well as Dirty English by Juicy Coutour and Carrera's 212. You have be careful with the latter two as too many sprays (3) will be overwhelming for the first hour or two. | 08-09-2011 12:51 AM Taylor's #74 Original is rather long lasting but is an "acquired" taste Max: Hey, piece of pie. Curnow: Cake, piece of cake. Max: Easy as cake, yes? Curnow: Pie, easy as pie. |

| 08-09-2011 07:23 AM I'm quite fond of the Czech & Speake "Frankincense & Myrrh" scent. It is not overpowering when you first put it on, and it does last quite some time. I have to say that I'm not fond of some other Frankincense & Myrrh scents I've come across. One thing I have to say about scent longevity, do not go by your nose. Have someone else rate it for you at the end of the day, or throughout the day. After a short period of smelling a certain scent, your nose adjusts to smelling it constantly and you can no longer detect it. It may very well still be there, but just sniffing the air you won't pick it up any longer. If you have some on your wrist, you can get your nose down close and give a good sniff and will still smell it, because the concentration of scent molecules is higher closer to the source (the spot on your wrist in this case). So, just because you can't smell it by the end of the day does not mean you don't still smell nice. |
| 08-10-2011 08:22 AM I have a cologne from TSD that lasts all day and night and an AS from Mama Bear that also goes on and on. Michael G. |
Some good, long lasting scents in my wardrobe include Aramis Havana, YSL Kouros, Creed Baie de Genièvre and Bois du Portugal, Knize Ten and Sec. Of course, how long lasting and strong a scent is depends on how sensitive your nose is to it. My nose is not very sensitive to some floral scents. One masculine floral sample I had (I forget which one) seemed very faint and weak to me so I applied several sprays. Later in the morning, several fellow passengers on the train gave me a hard look and moved away. Apparently, I reeked of the stuff and did not realize it. Their nose, but not mine was well tuned for that scent. I have a very sensitive nose to clove, conifer and incense smells, whereas some find them subtle and hard to pick out. Best, Mike |
