I just got a box of supplies from Bull Goose last week. Phil is always kind enough to throw in a few goodies... it's always appreciated and adds a nice element of surprise.

This time, Phil threw in a slice of Klar Kabinett shave soap. I knew the smell was superb, but knew little else about it. Well, I tried the sample for today's shave, and I'm here to tell you that this product is simply aswesome. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe it. I like many products, but not absolutely blown away like this over many!
Face latherers will love it... Bowl latherers will love it! It makes a veritable mountain of lather from a small amount of product. The scent is beyond compare!
I hate to gush, but I just hope to get more of this before the word gets out and clears the shelves at Bull Goose.

Maybe Phil can shed further light on the sample I received, but I assume it to be a slice off the bar...

Anyway, now there's something else I need to buy.. :ashamed1:

Thanks alot Phil... you enabler you! Banghead

Hey that's some pretty high praise !

In your opinion how's the after shave moisturizing ?

How does it stack up to the French, Italian and other German soaps and creams ?

Best,
Andy.

To tell the truth Andy, I'm not much of a reviewer, and I don't think I have or have ever tried a French soap. I can compare to Tabac, Proraso, Cella, Mitchell's, Williams, etc.
My face felt a little "tightening" when finished, but that's pretty normal for my skin with hard soaps such as this. Lather was top notch... phenominal! Cushion and glide I'd place at top shelf also.. Scent... superb
My ratings are pretty simple... "Like" or "Don't Like"... And this one scored a few notches above "Like..."

For me, and I recognize that these "ratings" are highly subjective, this product hit a bases loaded home run!

I don't consider it strong, although I've read it described as such..

For me, it was just right, although I will say the scent is stronger than Mitchell's Wool Fat, which I consider subtle.

I am glad to hear that you like the Kabinett soap Bill. You are correct...the sample was a slice off the bar. I use the soap as a huge shave stick but one of my customers puts the stick on a dish that was designed for an ear of corn and then loads the brush from the stick. I will be trying that method soon.

Hey Bill, IMO you have the ability to review clearly without a lot of excess verbage.

People like me sometimes waffle on without saying any more than you.

" this product hit a bases loaded home run " - says it all really ! Thumbsup

Best,
Andy.

Just so we are crystal clear, it is "Rose" scented, right?

Sounds like good stuff. Maybe I'll pick up a puck for my wife to use.

Most of the "Rose" products we encounter here in the states smell terrible. I tried a sample of British shave cream that was "Rose" and to me it smelled like the live flower and was very pleasant. That made me realize you can't judge a book by the cover. If anyone is riding the fence then I say go for it.

i agree, most of the 'rose' things i've smelled were too perfumy. if the sent is light enough i'd be willing to give it a go.
$20 for 500g is a great price.

Matt, since you're a confirmed face latherer, I think you'd love the stuff!
