I have been looking for an Apollo Mikron for over a year. I logged onto one of the other shaving forums this afternoon and this fell into my lap



I can hardly wait for it to arrive so I can take it for a spin.

I saw that beauty briefly for sale and was hoping you were the lucky buyer. That's a very interesting piece which looks promising. I'd imagine that the weight and balance should be good.

Thank you Martin. If it does not fit me, I will release it back into the wild. :mrgreen: It does sound promising though; I think I will enjoy the heft.

Never heard of that razor before.

If you were to sell it to me I could see my way clear to posting good remarks about Bullgoose.

Wow, that's pretty cool looking. Does it take regular blades? I picked up a Gibbs adjustable razor a while back, and after buying it found out I had to modify a regular blade to fit. I never did get around to trying it out....

Can you give us a review when it arrives ?
I would love to know how it compares to the obvious Merkur Progress / Futur as well as the adjustable Gillettes.

This morning was my maiden voyage with the Apollo Mikron. The Apollo is similar to the Merkur Progress but is balanced differently with more weight in the handle. The Mikron also appeared to be a bit more mild than the Progress (I used the Mikron on 3) and the cutting angle seems to be shallower. As this was my 1st use of the Mikron, I have not mastered the ideal angle and my shave was good but not spectacular. I will be playing around with it more later in the week.

It has been awhile since I last used an adjustable Gillette but the Mikron does remind me a bit of the Fatboy in terms of the cutting angle and heft.

Sounds like that's gonna work out ok for you (if you like a fatboy). Heh, that also sounds like a razor I'd enjoy using as well. Hmmmm, maybe a loan program of some sort in the future? I have a few razors you may not have tried and maybe one might catch your eye. I'd be happy to send one out to sample for a week or so. Heh, just something to keep in mind.

I believe Michael (LeisureGuy) likes to use one of those Apollo types.
