| 02-08-2012 09:15 AM I think that Peter could answer this question better than I, but for me, Two Band Super Badger is the ultimate, but lately I tend to gravitate toward hard soaps. It is a stiffer hair with more backbone than Best, and much more than Silvertip, although the tips can be quite soft. I've got five Badgers from the New Forest. This one, I believe has just been released, so I don't have an example of the 1901 yet, but I will.... Probably next month because my mad money is exhausted for February. ![]() I love Fido's two band hair, and find that it compares very favorably with the big name brushes... And by "very favorably," I mean indistinguishable! And, if anyone from other boards are reading this, I am NOT a shill, and I've paid full price for all my New Forest brushes! Better a diamond with a flaw than a polished pebble.... Bill Brown |
| 02-09-2012 01:33 PM The hair used in the production of New Forest two band brushes is very hard to distinguish from the two bands of other better known brands. I know, because I have felt, seen and used them. And that's because it's from the same part of the badger and treated similarly before the making of the knot. The main difference is the price - but I operate on a scale that requires minimal overheads and I don't sell through other online retailers or shops. As is well known there is no "industry standard" for describing grades. I decided to adopt the same term used by Simpsons for their two band brushes - so it's Super Badger for New Forest Brushes. http://newforestbrushes.blogspot.com/ http://fidosshavingblog.blogspot.com/ |
