Hi from yorkshire UK.
Had my first de shave yesteday and despite a little soreness after the shave my skin feels much better now i used to get a lot of discomfort the day after i shaved ie rash around neck and little white spots on my chin but things are ok today.
used some stuff i scraped together on a bit of a budget;
mercur 1904 with blade provided (£20.00 inc p&p)
TOBS sensitive shaving cream (£10.00 inc p&p)
a cheap wilkinson sword brush from supermarket (£2.50)
So far so good looking forward to the next one.
i have a list already of things i would like to buy think it could become an expensive hobby.
bye for now.

Welcome!

Sounds like you have a decent starting setup there. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

BTW ... that TOBs is fairly well regarded so you've already got a winner there.

Hey Tom, Great to have you with us ! - Wecome to the fun !

Looks like your off to a good start.

Tom, I don't know if you use a pre shave oil and an after shave moisturizer, but they'll almost certainly help with the skin irritation.

Yes, this hobby can get expensive if you let the addiction (the dark side) take control.

Enjoy ! Cheers

Best,
Andy.

Hi Tom and [Image: welcome-1.gif]. Enjoy your stay. Definitely get an inexpensive blade sample package from an on-line dealer. If I had to pick the most subjective piece of hardware or software in this hobby, more than soaps, creams, brushes, or the razors themselves, it would be blades. Read some opinions here at DFS but, ultimately, tiral and error will determine what works for you. Just have fun in the learning process. It sounds like you're off to a great start. Thumbsup

Aye up Tom, from another Yorkshire lad.

As suggested, get yourself a blade sampler pack from an online vendor - connaught for example - and go from their. You are in a good spot for advice & a bit of reading on here will also point you in the right direction.

Enjoy!

Welcome5

Welcome Tom, Connaught is an excellent vendor your side of the pond. Don't get too caught up in trying a bunch of different things at once, keep some things the same for a week or two then expand to other items.

And thanks for the tip off about Connaught shaving supplies been on and had a nosey already it looks like a great source for shaving supplies reasonable prices too.
