There is #80 on the big forum for sale now for $50. I was kind of surprised as I dont believe I have seen one up for sale yet? I saw 1 guy sell one because he had bought 2 but I think that is it. This is a pretty big feat I believe as close to 100 people have been completely satisified with a shave brush. Every LE brush that I know of has had some haters. I dont remember seeing too many of the Semogue 08 LE for sale but I dont know how many were originally for sale. Regardless I think Semogue has done a phenomenal job with the LE projects as has the testers and Bruno Thumbsup

Call me weird but using another guys brush (To Me) is kinda like a used pair of shoes.

I have the '08 (sivertip with a water buffalo horn handle). It has a denser fill than I like and the loft is more rounded, which makes it handsome to look at but less effective for me to use. So, I use my Semogue silvertips in standard density with true fan-shaped lofts.

I have the '09 LE, but it has never touched water. I haven't had the patience to break it in, and, once again, I prefer less density in the knot. The 830 is denser than I like, while the 1305 is my idea of boar perfection. One of these days, I'll put the '09 LE up for sale, as it's clear I will never use it.

What I've noticed about the Semogue LE models is that they target face-latherers specifically. I lather in a bowl and I find the standard Semogue models, in badger and in boar, to be the best possible brushes for me.

Hey Murray, thanks for those comments.
I only own the one Semogue - a 1305, and find it to be amongst the best if not the best brush of any I own.
I'm also a bowl latherer ( most of the time ) so I find your observations about the LE's to be interesting.

Best,
Andy.

So I take it you don't buy much used underwear then ?

Andy.

I dont mind having hand me downs or previously used stuff but thats personal preference. The brushes were extensively sanitized by the seller and myself(I have had 3 used brushes). Some folks just dont like used stuff. If I can save alot on a used brush, razor, cell phone, car, etc I am all over it. Once my income increases substantially then I might not have to resort to used stuff thoughSmile

BTW I would buy slightly used shoes/ boots but will always buy my underwear new Thumbsup

I'm courting the seller of an '09 number 82 (my birthyear, mind you) on a "large board". I missed out on the '09 LE and I'd love to add it to my collection. I believe we will agree on a trade.

Edit: And so, we have. I'll soon be the new owner of a Semogue '09 LE!

Hey,

Anyone able to provide a reasonable explanation as to the difference between the 1800 and 1305 besides the obvious cosmetic differences?

The 1800 is a different hair grade (mixture, as it were). Means the whole knot could be different, in terms of density (the 830 and 1305 are the same "dimensions" and grade but very different).

Nice! Glad you were able to finally score one. Mine unfortunately doesn't get a lot of use, but I need to start breaking it out again. What did you end up trading if you don't mind my asking?

Traded for a restored Case Red Imp 132 (incidentally, I didn't actually favor the razor muchly).

The brush arrived today and it's magnificent -an order of magnitude denser than the SOC. I gave it a soak and a test lather, and it put a hurting on some MWF. Quite a looker, too. This faux finest finish ought to make its way onto more brushes.

Seems like a fair trade. I've been wanting to get my hands on a Case Red Imp 132 for awhile, but I'm patient as they pop up all the time on eBay.

I'll agree with you on the density - I would say it is at least 20% more dense than the SOC. Can't wait to get the blue boar in to compare the density of that one.

With AoS Sandalwood soap this morning, I barely even had to work. The brush just pumps out lather. It's a little hungry for soap, but give it what it demands, and you shall be rewarded.

SO glad I got one.
