Did you ever have to have something so badly that you would do almost anything to get it? If so, you know how I felt about getting some Dr Selby shave cream. And the funny thing is that I don't know why this obession hit me. Maybe because it's almost impossible to get outside of Uraguay thus making it somewhat of an exclusive product.

At any rate, I was finally able get hold of some of this shave cream, via Spain, and fulfill my obsession. Was it worth it? Let's see

Price - Pretty darn high when you factor in the shipping. The cream is 14 euros plus shipping of 11 euros. It worked out to be $39.34. But what's money when fulfilling an obession?

Quality - it's billed as a shave cream but when you first see it in the container, it looks like a soap. Anyhow, this is first rate stuff. To me, it's as good or better than the Trumpers I've used.

Scent - billed as lavender and it does have a subtle fragrance. When you open the container, it doesn't pop out at you, it just sort of envelopes you. Very nice during lathering and during the shave. The fragrance doesn't linger after the shave is done so it won't conflict with your choice of a/s, cologne, edt, etc.

Latherability - Holy Moley! This stuff explodes with wonderful lather. I address the puck for about 15 seconds and then go to my face and start lathering. Very quickly I get a boodle of creamy stable lather. I tried several different brushes and got the same results each time. Terrific lather in nothing flat

Efficacy - How does it work? Very well. I get great cushion (I like cushion) and smooth glide. Regardless the razor/blade combo I've used, I get a smooth comfortable shave every time.

Facial Care - Upon completion of my shaves, my face has no irrition, feels moisturized and supple.

Bottom line - A very fine product that will provide enjoyable worry free shaves. This cream has met the expectations I had for it with flying colors.

Would I buy it again? Even with the high cost of shipping, I probably will.

Michael, speaking of obsessions and hard to get creams/soaps. Do you have any advice on how to obtain Denu shaving cream from Colombia?

I've not heard of Denu before. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue at this point. It's a long shot but I do know some folks from Brazil and maybe they can give some direction/help. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks. After posting that, I did some more searching online and was able to finally locate the manufacturer. I've searched hundreds of times on this cream, and finally got a lead. I sent them an email, although I'm not 100% sure it went through - I got an error message after I clicked "Send" through their website "Contact Us" page, but it also said, "Thank you and we will reply shortly" or something...LOL. I'll give it a few days and see if they respond.

No reply yet. I made a second attempt today, again with an error message. I'm going to assume that these are not going through.

Quote:Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:25 (A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. ) in H:\clientes2\incobra.com\htdocs\web\libraries\phpmailer\smtp.php on line 122 Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:25 (A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. ) in H:\clientes2\incobra.com\htdocs\web\libraries\phpmailer\smtp.php on line 122

Then below that:

Quote:Success Gracias por tu consulta. Responderemos lo antes posible.

I've also made an attempt through their "Contact" page on the website, also with no luck in being sent. This way I get the "Page cannot be found" message after clicking "Send."

That's great! Nice selection, what I'm assuming is more of a Cella-type soft soap (the 3X concentrated cream in a tub), sensitive, and a menthol! I wonder how cold the menthol is?

I'm happy to see that David has Dr. Selby in stock. I'm interested in the menthol too.

Yeah its a nice cream

Heres a first impressions I did a while back.

I just got my tub of Dr. Selby and I wanted to share with you guys. This cream is a bit more popular in the Spanish forum foroafeitado.com ever since I saw Carlos Fregar's video Ive been wanting to try it out. Finally I have the chance to do so. can't wait for tomorrows shave.

The tub is pretty nice its got a nice shape to it. It's a hard plastic kinda like TOBS container. The scent is also very nice. The cream states Lavender but It's unlike any lavender I've ever smelled. To me it smells like Fresh Green Herbs It's very nice smells refreshing and has a mild aroma..... Maybe they have different kinds of lavender in South America.

The tub also sais that its a 3 times concentrated cream. Its very dense and firm, firmer than Italian soft soap. I guess they just don't add much water to it when they manufacture it.

The back of the box states the following;

Method of use

1. Always leave the tub open and use the cap as a base. The reason is because Dr. Selby shaving cream (in the tub 3 times concentrated) will always have a dry surface and it will render 400 shaves. Only in case of travel cover the cream.

2. Wet the brush, discharge the water over your face then swirl the brush in the tub as shown in the image. This way the cream will not get wet and it will not waste too fast.

3. To multiply the cream production on your face. Wet the brush a little more and keep swirling until it turns creamy, compact with no air bubbles. ( I tried to translate as close as possible with out sounding too weird)

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Fragrance, CI 45350, CI 42015, CI 47005. Precautions: In case of irritation suspend its use. keep away from children.
