Picked this up at CVS today for $6.99. Lather bowl, brush, and puck of soap.

It looks like VDH soap, and the plain VDH boar bristle brush to me. Which is odd, because the brush on the shelf is $7.99 by itself. This should hold me until I pony up for an Omega 49.

I figure the soap is worth $2, so I got a cheap brush and a lather dish for $4.99 Smile

It definitely looks like the VDH set that is sold elsewhere. Enjoy it. Smile

Yup those are exactly the same pieces that are in the VDH Shaving set that I bought at a local grocery store and I think I have seen them in Walgreens too. Looks like just a private label deal CVS set up with VDH.

I saw that kit the other day at CVS, but didn't look at the price Duh looks like I'll have to go back.

Shoot ... the bowl is probably worth what they are asking, and it's $1 cheaper than what they want for the brush alone. I've been giving away these VDH brushes so I needed a spare anyway.

Is the hair on that brush the same as the modern day Burma Shave brushes?

Not sure. I've never used the Burma Shave brush.

The bowl is glass or plastic?

Neither, I believe its a ceramic, I have the same set but not the CVS version, which oddly is cheaper than at Walmart....

I think it is ceramic also. I used it today to lather with. I think my wife thinks it looks a little classier than the plastic dollar store salsa bowl I've been using.

This set is also sold at BB&B. I got the brush for the same $7.99. The set was a bit more. BTW, this a nice thick boar brush. Not much loft.

You got a deal. Thumbsup

I'm already 'de-skunking' the brush. Whipped up some of my KMF mint cream, a little Clubman shampoo, and followed with a mouthwash rinse. It smells like a minty, debonaire wet dog now instead of just a musty wet dog.

I think that kit you got must be an old one because I don't see it on the CVS website.

Odd, it was on there a few weeks back because it was on sale for $4.99 on line.

I have some of the Burma Shave Boar brushes... they are different from the VDH. The BS is a much smaller knot. I like them myself. I have never seen this set at CVS although I do keep a few of the VDH set to use as starter kits for Noobs.
