I have, and really enjoy the Rapira Supersteel blades, and I was curious how some of the other blades from the same company performs.

It has been a while since I've used them and can't remember. Ashamed0001 I'll have to give both the Rapira and Voskhod another go soon.

Teiste sent me some of the blades mentioned when I bought some stuff from him a few months ago, but I haven't used any of them yet.

I'm thinking about grabbing some of the Ladas just to see, but was hoping 3 or 4 people around here may have used them already.

I really really like the Rapira Swedish Supersteels, but they tend to rust easily. I was hoping maybe one of the other blades in the lineup might have similar shave characteristics, but better rust resistance.

I've used a few Ladas and Voskhod blades. The Voskhods seemed to me to be slightly sharper and smoother, but the Ladas lasted a little longer. For me, both are generally of high medium quality.

I have tried both and agree with John. They are not what I would buy again, but as always, YMMV. PM me and I'll send you samples of each.......if I can find them.Icon_redface

Perry sent me a few of these blades to try out, and I'm 2 shaves into the Ladas. So far it's matched up nicely with my Slim Adjustable and delivered 2 extremely smooth shaves.

I have fairly docile facial stubble, and this blade has handled it quite well the last few mornings. It's very similar to the feel of the Rapira Swedish Supersteel to my face, which I really like.

Got an excellent Shave #3 from the Ladas this morning. Still extremely smooth. Not ultra sharp, but not dull ... which is sort of the sweet spot I like from my blades.

Shave Number 4 from the Ladas went well. I'm impressed so far.

Got 5 good shaves from the Ladas. I will be purchasing some of these for further testing.

Tried out the plain Rapira Stainless today ( blue, pink, and black wrappers ). Not quite as smooth or sharp as the Ladas and the Rapira Swedish. Sort of generic Personna level at this point. That is a first impression of course.

2nd shave with the plain Rapira Stainless this morning. I'm at the point where I don't even think it's as sharp as a generic Personna. It's fairly smooth on my face, but I had to go 4 passes to get an acceptable result, and even then I had one trouble spot on my lower neck that it never seemed to do any cutting on.

I'm going to finish this one out as it's not hurting me, but even on my easy to cut stubble it's just not seeming to get much done. I may tinker with the setting on the adjustable, or move it to the Open Comb just for fun.

FWIW I moved the Rapira Stainless over to my Gillette Open comb and got an acceptable shave. I think it's a slight bit better in the OC, but it's still a mediocre blade at best for my face.

And why bother with a mediocre blade when there are so many really good ones out there.

Exactly. Unless price is an issue I wouldn't pursue this blade. It's Ladas and Swedish Supersteel cousins are much better, and not much more expensive. I've gotten 4 shaves from this particular blade so I think I may bank it and try the Voskhod tomorrow.

Once again, thanks to Perry for sending me these Russian blades to test out.

Tried out the Voskhod this morning.

My initial impressions are:

* much sharper than the the Rapira Stainless
* also could feel the blade a little more on my face ( reminded me of the feel of the Shark SuperChromes which I can always feel on my face )
* very good results

The Ladas and Rapiras were very smooth, almost to the point of not feeling a blade. The Voskhod, at least in this first use, was noticeable on my face ... but by no means uncomfortable. No tugging or bumping, but just a constant feel I had something wicked sharp rubbing over my face.

3 passes left my face very smooth, and irritation free.

I think John hit it on the head ... it's high medium quality at the moment. Further use may alter this initial impression.
