| 12-28-2011 11:28 AM A fellow on another forum told me to try this and I did this morning. Here's the story: He was traveling over the Christmas holiday and left his after shave balm at home, so all he had was his MWF. After he shaved and rinsed his face with warm water, he took some of the left over lather and rubbed it in to his face and let it set for about 5-minutes, then rinsed with cold water. Said it left his face feeling soft and smooth. So, I tried it this morning, and he was right. My face felt very refreshed, smooth, soft, etc., and was then ready for my Floid Blue. I think I will try this for a few day to see what happens. Maybe I will go from a BBS shave to a SBS shave (Sheep Butt Smooth). | 12-28-2011 12:46 PM Interesting concept. I usually paint my face with my leftover lather after shaving, but that was mainly to use up the excess lather, have something to actually rinse off, and I also think it helps to promote the clotting process if I get a nick (not sure why, just do). I've never let it set that long, though. I wonder if it's specifically because of the properties of MWF, or if this trick would work for any lather? |
12-28-2011 01:36 PM I've heard of something like this before but never tried it. Thanks Johnny, I guess I know what I'll be using tonight. Will let you know. ~Bob~ 'Life is like a bus ride. By the time you find a seat, you've reached your stop.' -Author Unknown
12-28-2011 05:42 PM That's interesting, Johnny. I wonder if it's the lanolin in the MWF and if it would work with any shaving soap/cream that has lanolin as an ingredient. Freddy
12-28-2011 06:33 PM I do this every day, but I don't quite leave it for five minutes. I always build more lather than I need... I love to whip up a veritable mountain. I usually never end up using it all, and having had "waste not, want not" drilled into me as a kid, I take what is left and load my entire face up with it. MWF works better than everything else, and I could soak up that subtle, classically "British" scent, for hours, but a few minutes and it gets rinsed. MWF certainly leaves a face feeling... for want of a better word... GOOD! Better a diamond with a flaw than a polished pebble.... Bill Brown
12-28-2011 08:06 PM MWF with all the lanolin must be the culprit of making the face feel good. Funny, as I think that this is the exact opposite of what I do as after my shave I rinse like crazy to get all the soap off. Gary

12-31-2011 12:27 PM I don't know about shepherds, but I heard a farmer in Oklahoma say something about it about 53 years ago. Johnny "Younger than some, older than most" - Wet shaving for 50+ years.
